Anderson Silva Plays Paintball?!

Mixed Martial Arts is arguably on of the most grueling, physically and mentally demanding, and challenging sports on the planet....period.

This mountain of catchy words that can describe what athletes have to endure in this sport and discipline is a steep climb to success that only few fighters in the world can claim they've made an attempt to scale. Even fewer can attest that they have a made a decent career in the sport. There is however, only a mere fraction of a percent of this chosen few have reached the top of the MMA mountain along the likes of MMA legends such as Fedor Emelianenko, Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, and the Gracie Family. Of these legendary fighters, there is but one fighter that is arguably regarded as the best mixed martial artist of all time.

Enter...Anderson Silva.

Anderson The Spider Silva, 37, is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and current UFC Middleweight Champion. Silva is the UFC's longest reigning champion and also holds the longest winning and title defense streak in UFC history, with 16 consecutive wins and 10 title defenses. He has 12 post-fight bonus awards, which is the highest total in the UFC. Silva is ranked as the #1 middleweight in the world by multiple publications including Sherdog, and is the consensus No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world according to ESPN, Sherdog, Yahoo! Sports and other publications. Silva holds notable victories over former champions Carlos Newton, Hayato Sakurai, Chris Leben, Rich Franklin (2x), Dan Henderson, Forrest Griffin and Vitor Belfort. His track record was so honorable, that UFC president Dana White has called Silva the greatest mixed martial artist ever.

Paintball.com and Giant Sportz was able to catch up with Anderson Silva in an exclusive interview. Now you are probably asking, why the heck are a bunch of paintball dudes interviewing the greatest MMA fighter of all time about paintball? Unknown by many sports enthusiasts around the world, for years, Silva is an avid fan of paintball. Frequenting many parks across the world, most notably Hollywood Sports Park which he refers to as his "second home," the champion regards this fun sport and hobby as a way to challenge himself and train for his fights. PAINTBALL.com - With the whole MMA experience, how would compare paintball to some of your fights?

SILVA - Ohhh....the adrenaline is the same, but paintball is more difficult! (Smiles) The fighting is easy...but paintball is more intense! I like it! It is a good sport! Sometimes I come to play because it helps me with my concentration, control, and helps me control my adrenaline. I love it!
