Creating an Interest in Scenario Paintball

Team Whatever Paintball
Well we were sitting around trying to figure out how to get more people to a scenario event in Calif. There we were players and a promoter putting out ideas and these are a few of what we came up with.
The first we talked about was promoting the event and we asked the prompter what they did. We found out they hit the web sites some magazines and their chat forums. The field sends out fliers to stores and their field if they own. And have flyers at the field they are at.
Well we as players that always go to these events need to get involved more if we want the sport to grow. We need to get out their hand out flyers; we need to talk to players at all the places we go. Yes I know other field owners don’t like to see that but first off you can ask the owner or manager if you can hand out flyer to players not place them on a car or on some were else just hand them to players and explain what is going on. And if they say no what you do is when you are on the field mention you do scenarios. And tell them to look it up at your web site or the promoter’s sight, or hay even exchange #s with that person. We can post it on our web sites or post it on chat rooms we visit, or forums we visit. But be descent you don’t want to put it on another promoter’s sight that is not right unless you have permission.
We need to get our friends out there. We all have friends that play and have never been to a scenario If each of us would bring 1or 2 players to the game that would increase the numbers immensely. May we can talk to the promoters for a incentive for a regular to get other people to register under their name, Maybe a paint discount 5 or 10 dollars off each case of paint for each person that registers under your name. But it has to be their first time playing for that promoter. That would bring more players and maybe the regulars wouldn’t bitch about paint prices as much and the promoter will sell more paint.
I also think that if promoters would do 1-day events. And I mean do them with the same enthusiasm and story line as a 24-hour event. Do missions have props give a good prize package? I think this would be a great way to introduce allot of people to the sport. And allow a lot of different fields to participate as well. Since allot of fields cant do night play or have over night camping. This way players who never heard or have ever participated in events like this cause they were turned off by the cost would be more likely to do it. The promoter could lower the price of admission for a 1-day event and keep the paint relatively the same. That will allow families to maybe try it or groups. I also fell that the promoter for the month before the scenario or 1 day game needs to send a representative to the field each weekend. It can be a person with info on it and banners and posters and give away stuff. Or have a team show up and play with everyone bring out their toys show the players what we do.
I know allot of teams would be interested. And the promoter all he has to do is contact the field and the field would be more then happy to accommodate them and possibly discount the team for entrance or something for playing their all day. That way you have people their showing what it is about building the hype and enthusiasm.
Most players have no idea what scenario play is. They know rec-ball and speedball. Maybe the promoters out here should buy a both at the big Tournament events in California. Have a video set up showing what we do have some props have some law rockets some tanks some stuff. Give out discounts to the events. Bring out team players to talk to them have promoters their. We need to break the barrier between speedball and scenario. Most people in paintball just love to play. They really don’t care just play. And so many players don’t know anything about scenario ball.
The team I play for does what we can for the sport and are really good ambassadors for paintball. My team is Whatever Paintball. We show up and just play reek-ball all day long. We will challenge all the walk-ons or split up and play with them or just sit and talk to the kids and players. Help fix their guns or show them our toys. We play and have so much fun. If a promoter would give us stuff to hand out we would do it in a heartbeat. We aren’t looking for sponsor ship from a promoter we just want to help the sport grow. If more teams would do this and promote scenario it would grow so fast. But we need the promoters to understand this as well as help us. We aren’t asking for things from them we are asking them to step up and help us help them to make this sport grow. And together we can do this we can work as one and build this in California.
