Earlier today it was reported that Joy Division, one of the most successful and high profile international teams in paintball history, had announced their decision to call it quits.  The news, apparently released by long time Joy Division captain Magued Idris, was posted up on ProPaintball.com along with the following statement:

"We will end it now as most of the guys feel it's time. It have been the best time of our lives and so glad and proud to have been part of paintball.  What I'm most proud of is that the team have kept together from day one.  Not one player in the 15 year history of the team have left Joy for another team.  And therefore it's just right that we end it together."  - Magued Idris

Joy Division will be remembered for rostering some of the most colorful characters in the paintball world, including Swedish superstar Maximus Lundqvist, who became one of the true worldwide ambassadors of the game.  Joy was also one of the most recognizeable teams on the field as well, thanks to their iconic leopard print jerseys and accessories.

What will become of the players?  Expect most if not all of the Joy stable to be offered positions on top European teams, and we suspect you may even see one or two such as Maximus make a return to the US tournament scene.  PaintBall.com would like to thank Joy Division for all the exposure and love they brought to our sport.  Those leopard spots will be missed.
