PSP World Cup - Saturday Prelim Updates
The second day of pro matches continued today at the PSP World Cup, providing some of the best tournament action seen all year. Today also brought out one of the largest spectating crowds of the tournament season, with fans packing both the sidelines for both the divisional and pro matches all day long. The vendor area was equally was packed through the morning and afternoon sessions, with companies like DYE, Draxxus, Empire, GI Milsim and others enjoying long lines.
On the field, the top pro teams continued to vie for a spot in the Sunday finals, with at least four teams within serious contention for the PSP series title. By the end of the day, three of the top four earned a spot to move on to Sunday. Leading the pack currently now is the Boston Red Legion, who earned an automatically entry into the semi-finals round by finishing 1st overall in the prelims, being the only team to win all four of their matches. The two other top squads, Damage (two wins) and Infamous (three wins), also performed exceptionally, as they have all year, moving on to Sunday as well. The big shock of the day though came from Edmonton Impact, who came into World Cup as the series points leader, but failed to rank high enough after four preliminary matches to earn a Sunday position. This has now put the series championship up for grabs, with Damage in the most advantageous spot.
Here's a list of all the pro teams moving on to Sunday:
Tampa Bay Damage
Boston Red Legion
*Both teams earn an automatic spot in the semis by finishing as the top two squads in the pro prelims
